EwE6 needs out-of-the-box support for generating .eiixml files

Reported by: jeroens Owned by: jeroens
Priority: normal Milestone: Ecopath 6: Release 6.6
Component: Database / Import Version: 6.5
Severity: major Keywords:

There is a growing demand for deploying EwE on operating systems that cannot access Microsoft Access databases. The .eiixml file format is a flat text database format that can be read by EwE on any operating system. EwE6 can read this file format, but the tools to generate this file format from existing Access database should now be publicly available

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed

The option to generate .eiixml files is now available via Menu > File > Export > To XML...
Note that .eiixml databases are READ ONLY; EwE6 can load the files but is not (yet) able to save model changes to the file format. This needs extra $ to happen; we never needed this functionality thus we did not spend time building it.

The .eiixml format can easily be read on any operating system. Running EwE as a command line preogram on a Linux computing cluster is now so much easer ;)
